World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor release date and cinematic trailer
There cannot be many gamers, as well as non-gamers, who are unaware of World of Warcraft (WoW). Fans of the fantastical role player will be excited to hear that Blizzard has just released an awesome video trailer of its newest expansion dubbed Warlords of Draenor.
World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, or Warlords or WoD for those in the know, will be the fifth expansion to the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft.
It was announced on November 8th at BlizzCon 2013, and is currently in beta. The expansion is scheduled for release on Thursday November 13th this year.
For those of you familiar with the WoW back story, this expansion is set after the events of Mists of Pandaria and takes place on the world of Draenor, the original homeworld of the orcs as it appeared in Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal – that’s before (*SPOILER ALERT*) it was destroyed at the end of that game and the creation of Outland as featured in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, and World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. You got that? Good 🙂
Gamers will be treated to a reprise of legendary characters from Warcraft’s past such as Grom Hellscream, Ner’zhul and Blackhand.
Player v Player improved on Island of Ashran
For you WoW PvP (Player v Player) gamers there’s also a treat in store for you too.
At a live event last week Brian Holinka, Blizzard Entertainment’s Senior PvP designer for WoW, let some details regarding the new PvP world in Warlords of Draenor, called Island of Ashran, out.
Those of you that were fed up with the regular ‘gankfests’ (where groups would prey on individuals or lower level players) that would blight the likes of Timeless Ilse, Holinka says that this has been addressed and promises that Ashran will be different.
Island of Ashran is huge and it will be an open PvP zone for everyone who has reached level 100 or their individual garrison has reached level 3. The PVP map will be available via a flight path.
Here you will have PvP oriented goals but, as the area is persistent, the battle will be going on continually and frees the players to do what they want there.
It is the era of an Old Horde, forged with steel rather than fel blood. A union of great orc clans, the Iron Horde, tramples the planet Draenor beneath terrifying war machines. Azeroth falls next. Worlds uncounted will follow.
You must mount a desperate charge on Draenor – savage home of orcs and adopted bastion of stoic draenei – at this pivotal moment. Your allies are legends from across time; your fortress a foothold in an alien land. Lead the armies of one world against another…before the future itself is unmade.
Players will be able to level up to 100 from the previous cap of 90. WoD will also include new dungeons and raids, and will introduce a new difficulty of raids called Mythic, which will be the hardest version of that raid.
Players will be able to build and upgrade their own garrison, a personal area in which they can recruit non-player characters to carry out missions to earn them items. The garrison will be assembled from the individual buildings like stables or armories, increasing their size and look.
