VIA Brings Worlds First USB 3.0 Hub Controller – VL810

USB 3.0 is pretty-much here and will probably been more in evidence at CES.

Thankfully the Taiwan-based PC accessory maker VIA has prepped its snappily named VIA VL810 SuperSpeed Hub Controller – this is the world’s first USB 3.0 hub controller.

It can handle data transfer speeds of up to 5Gb/s and features one upstream and four downstream ports.

The VL810 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 but with slower transfer rates obviously.

The five ports support Hi-Speed (480Mbps), Full-Speed (12Mbps) and Low-Speed (1.5Mbps) data traffic.

VIA states that the new controller is ideal for those users who need to backup HDDs or shift HD video files from one device to the other quick smart.
