Three Web Cube – Plug and Play Home Internet from 3UK

webcubeThree UK are now offering the Web Cube – a portable box that provides a Wi-Fi signal powered by Three’s 3G signal. Think of it as a home-based Mi-Fi.

The Web Cube offers a flexible alternative to traditional broadband for people who don’t want the hassle or commitment of a fixed-line contract. So it’s ideal for students and renters who frequently move home or if you are fortunate enough to have a holiday home.

The Web Cube is HSPA+ enabled to the 21.1Mbps technical standard. This should mean it can deliver typical download speeds of 2-5Mbps which is comparable to those of entry-level fixed-line broadband solutions, with the potential to reach a maximum download speed in excess of 10Mbps.

Housed in a funky box the Web Cube comes with a mobile broadband SIM card already inserted and offers straight forward ‘plug-and-play’ installation. Simply plug it in to your wall socket, turn it on, and your home will have Wi-Fi internet from Three. And when you move house, just take it with you.

Three is offering customers a choice of two Web Cube tariffs. You can opt for a one-month rolling contract with 10GB of data costing £15 a month plus an upfront charge of £59.99 for the device. Alternatively Three offers a 24-month contract with 15GB of data costing £15.99 a month and no upfront charge for the device.

The Web Cube has actually been available in Italy since February of 2011 — Now it’s landed in the UK but is currently only available in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Leeds, but interested parties can sign up to find out when it’ll be available elsewhere in the UK.
