Sony Handycam NEX-VG10E – Lens Swapping Camcorder out in September

Back in May Sony took the four-thirds still shooters to the NEX level and now here they are with the Handycam NEX-VG10E – the very first interchangeable lens camcorder!

The NEX-VG10E uses the E-mount lenses and if you slap on an adaptor it will play nice with Sony Alpha DSLR A-mount lenses.

The lens-swapping camcorder comes bundled with an image-stabilised E18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS lens which manages 11x optical zoom and will capture Full HD 1920×1080 video in AVCHDTM format at up to 24 Mbps!

The VG10 packs a large 14.2-megapixel Exmor APS-sized CMOS sensor and saves your flicks on Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo or SD, SDHC and SDXC cards.

Sound recording is thanks to the Quad Capsule Spatial Array stereo microphone and there’s even an external mic input for on-the-scene reporting and there’s also a headphone jack for the camera-person.

Monitoring is via a flip-out 76mm (3 inch) display and it should be easy to find your way around as Sony says that the “intuitive jog dial and hotkeys make it easy to navigate camera menus and adjust shooting parameters. Videographers can also enjoy precise manual control over Iris, Shutter Speed, Gain and White Balance for professional results.”

Expect to see it in the UK by the end of September this year 🙂
