Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo – is Speed Enough to be King of the Androids?

If you think that the Samsung Galaxy S II is King of the Androids then perhaps you should know a little bit more about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Duo.

The Xperia Duo will be rocking a 4.5-inch qHD display which will be hooked up to Sony’s rather spanky Mobile Bravia engine. This should be perfect for watching video play-back as well as seeing the pics snapped using the on-board 12-megapixel camera which features the now SE standard Exmor R backlit sensor.

That’s all well and good but now things start to get really interesting.

Rumour has it that the Xperia Duo will have the kind of motor any boy/girl-racer would be proud of.

Whispers are that the Duo will have a dual-core Cortex A9 processor “aided by the Mali-400 GPU, under the name of NovaThor A9500 chipset.” under the hood.

If you want to know about speed then how does a clock speed of 1.4 GHz grab you race fans? The Samsung Galaxy S II reaches 1.2 GHz in comparison.

There is also talk that the Xperia Duo might use the Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon chipset instead as modelled by the HTC Sensation.

Whichever chip Sony Ericsson uses one thing seems to be a constant – The Duo will be loaded with a very fast dual-core processor.

Are you excited by all of this?

The Xperia Duo certainly does sound like a bit of a beast but will the hardware be enough?
