Sonos Playbar – HiFi meets HiDef home theatre
Described by the company as “HiFi meets HiDef” the all-in-one system has nine individually amplified speakers, six mid-woofers, and three tweeters built-in. This should pump out high-quality audio when listening to anything from music being streamed from your audio player to your favorite movie or game.
“Sonos has transformed the way people listen to music throughout the home and now we’re bringing our wireless HiFi approach to home theater,” said John MacFarlane, CEO, Sonos, Inc. in a statement “Playbar will change everything about the sound experience in your living room, bringing together amazing HiFi sound for your TV and wireless access to the world’s music in a radically simple way.”
The Playbar connects to your television using a single optical cable, and is able to play everything that is connected to your TV including Blu-ray players, cable boxes and game consoles. Volume can be controlled using your television remote, or the Sonos Controller smartphone app and the Playbar works with all amplified and non-amplified Sonos products.
Built-in sensors allow the device to automatically adjust EQ and channel orientation, so you can place it on your TV, or mount it on the wall.
The Playbar will cost £599, and will be available from Sonos’ website as well as a number of retailers nationwide on March 5 but can be preordered now from the Sonos site.
