Samsung Bada Apps Hits 100 Million Downloads – Prize Give Away Ensues!
Samsung Apps has been on the upward curve ever since launching the service began along with the Samsung Wave (GT-S8500) smartphone back in June 2010.
Sammys Apps hit the 10 million download mark within its first three months – now, in March, it has cleared the 100 million download milestone.
The mobile and application store has over 13,000 apps available from its marketplace – a six-fold increase since the store’s first day. Included in these are Magic Torch (Magic App’s), Need For SpeedTM (Electronic Arts) and Asphalt 5 (Gameloft) – that triumphant triple happens to be the three most downloaded apps on the platform.
Transportation and navigation apps – such as London Traffic and Ndrive France – are also popular downloads. The most popular apps seem to reflect cultural characteristics; recipe and wine apps are popular in France, Germans love football related apps and Italians are fans of film information apps.
To mark the 100 million download acheivement, Samsung is launching a weekly prize draw for customers.
Each week, when you grab an app from the Samsung App store you’ll be in the running to receive a Samsung prize – with Samsung Galaxy Tabs, Galaxy Players, USB sticks and vouchers from Samsung Apps up for grabs!
The promotion runs from March 25th to April 30th 2011, and applies to all Bada handset devices, including Wave, Wave II, Wave 525, Wave 533, Wave 575 and Wave 723.
“We are anticipating that Samsung Apps will show a rapid growth in 2011, especially with a variety of the upcoming bada device line-up†said Kang-Hyun Kwon, Senior Vice President of Media Solution Center, Samsung Electronics. “Through consistent service improvement and high-quality app selections, we will continue to offer optimised application services for Samsung smartphones.â€
