PlayStation Vita YouTube and Maps apps killed off

PS VitaIf you use you Sony PlayStation Vita portable console for more than gaming then this may be disappointing news as Sony has announced support for two applications on the PS Vita will soon be coming to an end.

Sony explains over on the PlayStation website that the PS Vita YouTube application will no longer be supported after April 20th 2015 and has stopped being available for download from the PlayStation Store from today.

Of course, if you still need your fix of cat videos then you will still be able to access YouTube via the PS Vita Browser application.

playstation ps vita mapsSony also announced today that all features of the PS Vita Maps application and some features of the Near social networking application will also be disabled within the software update planned to be released later this year in March, 2015.

Sony explains :

Functionalities of the applications will be removed automatically once users update their PlayStation Vita. The disablement of features will not affect gameplay.”
