LG Optimus 2X UK Released in February – SIM Free Price Now!

LG’s new flagship Android handset, and the world’s first dual-core phone, the LG Optimus 2X is to launch in the UK on February 21st!

Available to pre-order now as a SIM-free device, Optimus 2X was officially announced at last weeks CES – proudly sporting its 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor taking the ‘world’s first’ title.

It has to be said that the following that announcement Motorola unveiled its dual-cored Atrix later that very same day.

The Optimus 2X will make its debut sporting Android 2.2 FroYo, but LG has said that a Gingerbread 2.3 update will be released before too long.

The mobile certainly has an impressive spec sheet starting off with the fact that it’ll be the first phone to be capable of playing 1080p-resolution video thanks to that Nvidia Tegra 2 AP20H.

Having those 1080p skills it would be remiss not to have an HDMI output, which lets you pipe HD video over to your TV. LG have done the right thing and included such a beast. LG’s HDMI mirroring feature makes it easy to send other content over to your TV too – whatever’s on your phone’s screen will appear on your telly-box! Big screen mobile gaming anyone?

It’s also equipped with two cameras – a standard back lens for shooting photos and a user-facing extra one for video chats and self-portraits. The main camera’s an 8-megapixel deal, with an LED flash. The video chat cam is a 1.3-megapixel which should be plenty for your close-up.

Optimus 2X also hands you 8GB of internal storage which can be increased by way of the microSD card slot – yup, Android 2.3 Gingerbread will in fact take them!

If you fancy it why not nip over to Expansys and slip them £500?
