HTC One misses KitKat update deadline
HTC, you’ve let me down, you’ve let all the other enthusiastic UK One owners down and, more importantly, you’ve let yourself down. It seems that HTC has been unable to stick to its self-imposed update deadline.
HTC is apparently finding the KitKat update for its flagship Android phone a little more tricky than first expected.
As such, the company has had to come clean and embarrassingly reveal that it’s going to miss its own 90-day deadline for bringing Google’s latest code to its beloved HTC One.
In a letter on the US site, HTC’s Americas president, Jason Mackenzie, said:
“…the software development process does not always follow a linear path and we know today that we will miss our self-imposed target. The good news is that we won’t miss by much as, it shouldn’t be more than one to two weeks to complete each of the carrier versions of the HTC One.”
So it will arrive a week or two later than planned, which isn’t a disaster if I’m honest. I for one am still happy with my One but it is a tad annoying that there’s people over in Europe who are clearly flaunting their handsets complete with the 4.4.2 update.
