HTC One (M9) rumoured specs: 5.5-inch screen, 16MP camera

HTC One M9There will be many phone makers hard at work right now getting their next flagship mobile ready for its moment in the spotlight at Mobile World Conference. HTC must be working on their M9 and that leads to more leaked specs.

The HTC One (M7) was the phone that helped break my Apple addiction and it looks like HTC will be keeping the “One” naming scheme and so the next one will be the HTC One (M9).

The spec list will definitely help the M9 to hold its head high amongst the latest and greatest phones out there.

A 5.5-inch QHD (quad or 4x HD) display is a pretty good start. A Snapdragon 805 processor is a decent enough chip choice, for now, and 3GB of RAM should keep it bouncing along at a decent pace.

Internal storage options will most likely kick off at 32GB, with 64GB and 128GB satisfying our upgraded needs – but everyone loves a microSD slot for that extra reassurance, don’t they?

Loading the M9 with a 3500mAh battery is a smart power option. In most cases, lugging around 4000mAh makes for a heavy device, but anything rating 3200mAh or lower produces unsatisfactory battery life on a phone with a screen this size for the average user.

If the rumours pan out then this next news nugget might well be the biggy – HTC is said to be opting for a 16MP camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) instead of its lower MP rated Ultra-Pixel units.

This will please the megapixel counters as, I think it safe to say, some people couldn’t get their head around HTC’s UltraPixel technology. This might also be the reason why so many haven’t chosen the HTC One (M8) as looking down the spec sheet and seeing a 4MP sensor listed might have some shoppers thinking that they’ve been in a timewarp.

There is also mention of a HTC One (M9) Prime which could be sporting Bose audio. Nice.

I reckon that official word on the HTC One (M9) won’t be happening til next March at MWC in Barcelona.

Mind you, that’s not going to stop the rumour mill from turning so stay tuned for more!
