HTC New Google Nexus 6 and 8 devices spied with fishy codenames – Flounder and Molly

htc nexus tabletThere have been recent rumbles alluding to the successor of the Nexus 7. The possibility of the next Nexus’s codename being ‘Flounder’ cropped up through a Chrome bug report but now there’s more.

The bug report revealed that Flounder was running a software development kit (SDK) development branch of Android, with a build compiled just earlier this week.

Now, through an Android 4.4.3 changelist, there are clues that Flounder could perhaps be manufactured by HTC. Not only that, there is also the possibility that another device from Google, ‘Molly‘ is being put through its paces. Could this be a Nexus 5 successor?

None of this is watertight, although with those names it should be, but the changelist stating “project device/htc/flounder/,” is a pretty good indication that we will most likely be seeing an HTC Nexus appearing fairly soon.

As far as Google’s Molly goes, at the moment it is but a name in a document. It is pure assumption but perhaps we could be dealing with a Nexus 5 refresh – or perhaps the Nexus Smartwatch?

There’s yet to be any images or specs leaked of these upcoming devices from Google, but at least the rumor mill has started churning. Here’s hoping that we will be seeing these new devices soon.
