Google Home landing in UK next week
Google has revealed that its Amazon Echo rival, Google Home, will arrive in the United Kingdom on April 6.
The announcement was made on Tuesday at an event in London.
Google Home works in a similar way to Amazon Echo. The Amazon version has been with us since September 2015.
You can use Google Home to control a wide range of smarthome products, such as lighting and thermostats; playback music, with support for Google Cast; and ask it any number of questions with results delivered direct from Google’s search engine.
It was also stated that the British version of this connected smart speaker will deliver news briefings from several U.K. media outlets including The Guardian and the BBC.
Rollout of Google Home beyond American shores has lagged behind its main rival. This has certainly allowed Amazon to gain an early foothold in the British market over the holiday period. There has been many household and automotive appliances baking in Echo. At least the Botvac has included Home integration.
Google’s voice-activated speaker has also recently been dogged by accusations that its virtual Google Assistant responds to some questions with dubious answers because of flaws in the way its online search algorithm operates.
Google Home price and availability
When it lands next month it will cost £129.
