Gigabyte M2432 Booktop with Gaming Graphics Dock
Gigabyte has taken the wrappers off their neat new M2432 laptop at Computex.
The M2432 ‘Booktop’ is a little different as it comes with a docking station which does seperate this 14-inch 1,366 x 768 LCD lappy from the crowd.
The machine itself is loaded with a second generation Core i5-2410M (2.3GHz to 2.9GHz), a pair of USB 3.0 ports, Intel HD Graphics 3000, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and a 500GB 7200rpm hard drive.
If that’s enough – there’s also the bonuses of 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, HDMI-out, VGA-out, 1.3 megapixel webcam, and an eSATA/USB 2.0 combo port.
All of that, somehow, shoved together still only weighs a portable 1.8kg (3.97lbs) with a uniform thickness of 27.6mm.
Audio-wise the M2432 Booktop comes equipped with two speakers and THX TruStudio Pro technology which promises to bring “the same level audio experience found in live performances, movies and recording studios”. Hmmmmmmmmmk. I think I’ll let my ears be the judge of that before I say anything 😉
So – a decent laptop then? Well, things get more interesting when you add that dock.
Sit the M2432 on top of the dock and you are instantly welcomed by six extra USB 2.0 ports plus DVI-out and another HDMI-out. Handy.
Not only that though – you’re also giving the M2432’s graphics ability a good ol’ boost!
The dock happens to hand the 14-inch lappy desktop-class NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 graphics with 1GB video RAM! This dock is, essentially, an external graphics card!
No word on prices or availability at the moment but colour me interested.
