Get an iPad and MacBook When You go to University

I never went to Uni and sometimes I regret it – but then I’ve never had the joy of student debt and never worked in McDonalds 😉

I did go to school (oh yes I did!) and I do recall those papery things that I’d back with offcuts of wallpaper…… textbooks: that’s what they were called.

Well, they’re so last century and students at Seton Hill University in Greensburg PA are all getting iPads and will be able to grab their iTextbooks from the iBook store – How cool is that?!? I remember losing my school timetable and so had to drag all my books around with me just in case – I guess I was just doing the incredibly Lo-Fi version 🙂

A Seton Hill student tipped TUAW saying “Students will be able to download their textbooks to their iPads from the iBook Store. In addition, iPads can be used as phones and for air and file sharing, as well as note-taking.”

How long til you hear “I’ve a cracked copy of applied calculus – you fancy it?”

This is backed up on Seton Hill’s website where it boldly states that “Beginning in the fall of 2010, all first year undergraduate students at Seton Hill will receive a 13″ MacBook laptop and an iPad.”

This could almost be as important as the girl:boy ratio and the price of the local larger and cider in deciding which Uni to attend!

You reckon that UK Uni’s will ever get this? If so, you reckon I could pass as a student?
