Galaxy S5 to appear at this month’s Samsung Unpacked
Samsung’s long-awaited Galaxy S5 smartphone is all-but-confirmed to make its grand debut on February 24th thanks to this invitation to the mobile-centric ‘Unpacked‘ event.
As you can see in the invite above Samsung aren’t being very subtle with the 5s placed about the invitation. I am guessing that it is fairly safe to say that will see Samsung’s newest toy unveiled in Barcelona, during Mobile World Congress.
Rumours regarding the S5’s spec point to a higher-resolution display for the fifth Galaxy S smartphone, as well as 3GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel camera, a better battery and a 64-bit Exynos processor. A security eye-scanner could also make an appearance.
What hasn’t really been mentioned is what form will the new Sammy smarty take? Are we going to see the usual flat, oval or will the Galaxy S5 get a curved display, a la Galaxy Round?
If the S5 really is revealed on February 24th, that would be less than a year since the S4 was first shown off (Samsung’s current flagship got its first official airing on March 13th 2013).
This could be just a coincidence of timing or it could be that the S4’s poor performance against Samsung’s expectations needed to be addressed sooner rather than later.
Well, there isn’t going to be a shortage of stores in the UK for the new handset with both Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u manning Samsung-branded retail outlets.
