Futuristic FOREO ISSA toothbrush seen on Star Trek available now

Issa hybrid cool blackIt’s amazing what a TV spot can do, especially when it’s Sc-Fi but the tech is Sci-Fact! This is what happened with the FOREO ISSA.

This is what happened when ‘the toothbrush of the future’ appeared on episode 5 of Star Trek Discovery this week.

All of a sudden, global beauty giant FOREO was inundated by fans looking to get their very own black silicone toothbrush.

Well, it just so happened that the same was used by Star Trek’s Lt. Paul Stamets and Dr Hugh Colber.

Firsts on Star Trek Disco

star trek discovery foreo toothbrushIt was a series of world firsts for Star Trek Discovery’s fifth episode. Not only featuring the first openly gay relationship in Trek history, but it was also the first time the ‘f-bomb’ was dropped.

Furthermore, it was the very first time ever there was an uber sci-fi, unidentified black silicone toothbrush featured – enter the FOREO ISSA!

FOREO ISSAIn the end scene of episode 5,  Lt. Paul Stamets, played by Anthony Rapp, and Wilson Cruz’s character, Dr Hugh Colber, are seen enjoying a catch up over their dental hygiene.

Expect to see those natty Star Fleet pyjamas appearing in stores too, no doubt.

Speaking to Variety Kapp describes the black silicone toothbrush used by his character as:

…some kind of high-end electric toothbrush that probably has some kind of laser beam or something, so you literally just have to pass them over your teeth. You don’t have to scrub. They don’t really make a noise and you don’t need toothpaste.”

Real tech

Although, saying that, these are innovative and high-end electrical toothbrushes combining Sonic Pulse Technology and a revolutionary silicone design for brushing like no other.

Well, what else would you expect on the U.S.S. Discovery?

The good news for Trekkies (or Trekkers, if you prefer – I realise that this is a minefield) is that the FOREO ISSA is not lightyears away.

Furthermore, you don’t have to wait until year 2364. In actual fact the first toothbrush on Trek is available now from foreo.com.
