Dell Venue Pro Windows Phone 7 Goes SIM Free

I’ve just been trawling the interwebs as a work buddy of mine asked me about SIM free Windows Phone 7 handsets that are going to definitely seperate him from the iPhone massive.

Howsabout this then? Not only does it run on Windows Phone 7 but Dell has never ever released a smart phone before – this is the Dell Venue Pro ladies and geeklemen!

The Dell handset comes packing a text/email friendly Qwerty keyboard and runs along using the standard 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It has an eye-pleasing 4.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen that has a res of 800×480 pixels and there’s a 5-megapixel camera with digital zoom and LED flash round back.

It will allow you to expand its mind via the microSD which is fortunate as otherwise you’d be stuck with only 1GB storage on-board. It’ll hook-up to 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and it has those handy toys: an accelerometer and digital compass.

It looks a little chunkier than the other Windows Phone 7 handset pictures I’ve spied (not had hands on with any yet) but I’m guessing that QWERTY-board wont be helping the girth. It would be a bonus for heavy email users and other business-types though I am sure.

I can’t see any record of a UK network picking this phone up so perhaps it’ll stay a SIM-free phone. It looks like all the wares from Samsung, HTC and LG are going to be strictly contract blowers whether on PAYG or monthly tariffs.

The Dell Venue Pro will cost you £500 on November 8 via the Expansys website.
