Dell Streak Android Tablet Gets UK Release and Pricing

After Michael Dell’s slip it was already common knowledge that the Streak tablet was coming to O2.

Now Carphone Warehouse has outed the amount you’ll need to cough-up on Friday, June 4th if you’re looking to grab the Android powered Dell Streak.

A sharp intake of breath would be required if you went to buy the 5in tablet for the stand-alone price of £429 – you know that you can buy the 16GB iPad Wi-Fi for exactly that amount of coin?

But then the Streak will fit in your pocket – so if a 9.7in screen isn’t the be-all-and-end-all perhaps a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor sporting 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity coupled with GPS, a VGA front-facing camera with a 5MP autofocus camera with dual LED flash round the back may swing it.

On the tariff-front there’s a £25 a month contract with mobile broadband or a £35 a month contract with voice and unlimited data to choose from and you get the Dell Streak for free.

So – Android 1.6 (with a Froyo update coming over the air) or Apple’s new best-seller?

Register here at Carphone Warehouse for their first tablet.
