BlackBerry Dakota – Touchscreen and QWERTY Upfront

BlackBerry owners do tend to glare when they hand their clever phone over to folk who then proceed to poke and jab at the screen – Perhaps you need a Dakota? 🙂

Where the Storm is purely a touchscreen mobile and the Torch hides its keyboard away it sounds like Dakota will have both sharing prime real estate.

If the details spilled by BGR are right then the Dakota seems to be a Darwinian step of the BlackBerry Bold – as used by HRH Queen Elizabeth no less!

As well as it having a QWERTY keyboard and a 2.8 inch VGA capacitive touchscreen up front it will be packing 768MB of RAM and 4GB of storage in its 0.4-inch thick body.

Connectivity comes way of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile hotspot support.

Dakota will be running BlackBerry 6.1 as its OS of choice and will play nice with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as 3G networks.

The BlackBerry Dakota will also be equipped with a 5MP camera with flash, HD video recording, a magnetometer, acclerometer, and proximity sensor.

No 4G or video calling has been mentioned but that can all change as more news comes through 😉
