Apple has just released an upgrade to their iTunes software and as well as the usual bug fixes and the odd security update the main purpose of iTunes 8.2 is to add support for iPhones or iPod touches 3.0 Software.
Yup, that means that all the pieces are in place for Apple to release the iPhone OS 3.0 software – perhaps at the WWDC.
The iPhone OS 3.0 software adds over 100 features to the iPod or iPhone including:
- Search your iPhone
- Cut, copy, and paste
- Send photos, contacts, audio files, and location via MMS
- Read and compose email and text messages in landscape
According to The Unofficial Apple Weblog, who first posted about the iTunes update, Apple has also released updates for QuickTime (now 7.6.2) and GarageBand (update to 5.0.2).
According to the releases notes the QuickTime update “includes changes that increase reliability, improve compatibility and enhance security. This release is recommended for all QuickTime 7 users.â€
The GarageBand update “addresses general compatibility issues, improves overall stability, and fixes a number of other minor issues [including] Improved purchasing experience for Artist Lessons in the GarageBand Lesson Store [&] Accessing installed Jam Packs in the loop browser.â€
The 8.2 update is required if you purchase lessons from the Lesson Store.
Still counting down to WWDC 🙂
