Apple event officially Sept 9 2014 – wish we could say more

apple event 9.9.2014Apple, in typically cryptic style, has confirmed that it’s holding an event in Cupertino on September 9th 2014.

Apple has outed its invites complete with the baffling, but possibly hinting, tagline: “wish we could say more.”

The event will be held in the Flint Centre in Cupertino, California, around 6pm UK time where Apple is expected to unveil a new larger iPhone that packs a 4.7-inch screen in order to compete with larger smartphones from rivals Samsung, LG, HTC and Sony, as well as Microsoft.

A second new iPhone with an even larger 5.5-inch screen has also been rumoured as well as the highly anticipated iWatch (or iTime) wearable.

The new iPhones and smartwatch, should it make an appearance, will mostly likely come wrapped in sapphire glass. Although, the harder and more scratch-resistant sapphire screens seem to be a bit thin on the ground as recent indications from the supply chain suggest Apple may struggle to meet demand.

The event will also mark the launch of Apple’s new iPhone and iPad software, iOS 8, which includes many new features focused around flexibility and interaction with Apple’s desktop and laptop computers.

Apple’s new Health application is set to capitalise on the increasing ‘quantified self’, collecting data from fitness trackers and medical devices into one application. The iPhone 6 may also include expanded fitness tracking and health monitoring capabilities.

What are you hoping for? I reckon it’s about time that Apple gave us another leap rather than incremental steps.
