UMPC

idx_photo_002Here’s a totally knock-out netbook, UMPC (ultramobile PC) or whatever Fujitsu are calling it.

Who cares – check out the specs!

With a 2GHz Atom CPU, it’s up to be the fastest pocket PC out there – but manages to be smaller than Sony’s Vaio P or the Everun Note.

It’s packing a 5.6″ 800-line touchscreen display, wifi and bluetooth; SSD options; a gig of RAM – all that and weighs a tiny 1.3 pounds.

Although it doesn’t have WWAN options and looks to cost around $1500!

I’m hoping that this comes over to Europe – if it does is will become part of the U800 series apparently.

Over in Japan, it goes by the natty title of the FMV Loox FMVLUC50NDX90YN-440Xb.

All The UMPC’s and Netbooks In One Place!

by Jay G on March 29, 2009

umpcJust how helpful are the folks over at UMPC Portal?

How about putting together a poster of ever netbook and UMPC (ultra mobile PC) that has been released in recent history?

Bless their collective hearts.

If you’re really hot on the old UMPC and netbook front perhaps you can spot any that’s missing – I’m not sure to be honest but hey!

To me this kinda underlines how confusing and full this marketplace is getting (just think how many versions of the EeePC there’s been!).

The great thing about the picture over on UMPC Portal is that when you click a pic you get info about that particular portable puter.

So, without further ado go and have a goosey at the pic over at UMPC Portal via the lovely powered porcine that is  Electricpig

Dell’s saying that the Dell E will appear in two device types; an 8.9-inch model clearly meant to take on the Eee 900, and the 12.1-inch “E Slim” which [...]

Craving a bit deeper, more meaningful interaction action with your touchscreen gadget, like maybe stretching or squeezing it? Do you already think this touch-screen haptic feedback is getting a little old-hat by itself?
Well, it seems that Microsoft thinks so.

The LimePC UMPC runs LimeOS, which is based on Linux (MorphOS).  The Korean press-release says it is based on Debian Linux, full screen HTML based user interface and Web 2.0 applications.
