CompuLab is quite well known for producing tinsy-tiny puters.
This mini-marvel measures a mere 4 x 4.5 x 1.05 inches and weighs in at only13 ounces, the fit-PC2i is hailed as the planet’s smallest dual gigabit Ethernet-equipped PC and at the mo I’m willing to believe it.
Don’t be fooled by its small size though.
It aint no toy – this is a real and viable PC.
The fit-PC2i is based around an Intel Z5xx (1.1 to 2 GHz) processor, the fit adds up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, built-in WiFi and space for a 2.5 inch HDD.
You can hook it up via four USB 2.0 ports, 2 gigabit Ethernet ports, S/PDIF and, confusingly, DVI – surely that space could be used for HDMI?
It supports 1080p video playback, includes an IR receiver and runs Windows 7. This means as a media machine sat next to your huge HDTV it would do a thoroughly decent job methinks.
The rig consists of a 100% aluminium die-cast body, and even at full load it sips just 8 watts of power.
So – add it to Santa’s list, get him to order from the Fit PC site and wait ’til January for it to ship.
Tech keeps advancing and as it does so gadgets get thinner and smaller – almost to the point where the portable power sources, batteries to you and I, are getting too chunky for the tech they need to juice up.
Well – what we could do with is some nuclear batteries like the vision of the future back in the 50’s.
Some University of Missouri researchers think the same – and they’ve only gone and done it!
“People hear the word ‘nuclear’ and think of something very dangerous,” he said. “However, nuclear power sources have already been safely powering a variety of devices, such as pace-makers, space satellites and underwater systems.”
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmk.
Those clever (and brave) researchers are building and testing these batteries right now and they’re focusing on powering micro/nanoelectromechanical systems and not MP3 players or mobiles just yet.
Just think – there could be a time when we swing by Dixons to grab a pack of Nuclear Batteries – in our hover car obviously
This is Sheevaplug.
No, it’s not some hippy power-sipping appliance lover but a computer in a plug!
Dreamed up by Californian-based Marvell and it has everything you need in a computer – cpu, memory, network connectivity and USB ports.
More specifically, it’s packing a 1.2GHz CPU, 512MB of flash memory and 512MB of RAM, along with a gigbit ethernet [...]
Take a look at this drill.
It was posted by Flickr user s8 and, from what I can tell, probably can’t help with the general DIY tasks that drills are used for.
But from another standpoint – it’s a very small, cleverly made, drill!!!
I’m just disappointed that S8 didn’t make a tiny holster for it and wear it [...]
D’ya think that your USB memory stick is a bit large? Does it stand proud of your sexy laptop ruining the lines of your lovely machine?
Well, The EagleTec USB Nano Flash Drive measures a tiny 19mm x 15mm x 6mm and only weighs 3g!

But today they have announced a [...]
More tiny tech!
This is the quite stylish and undeniably travel-friendly E-blue Troza.
This little shiny black 2.4GHz optical laser mouse weighs a mere 32 grams and works wirelessly from distances of up to 10 meters.
Handy if, unlike me, you have a light laptop or netbook
Not sure how long you’d be able to use such a mini mouse [...]

Stealth have been quite quiet since the release of their tiny LPC-350PCI PC over a year ago.
But now they return with the even tinier LPC-650.
It’s 6.54 x 6.18 x 1.89 inch alluminium body holds a Core 2 Duo inside.
Its packing a gigabit Ethernet, a slot-loading optical drive, optional SSD, WiFi, 1GB of DDR2 RAM and, [...]
I for one am linked to way too many social networking time leeching sites and find myself jumping from app to app throughout the day just to check what’s going on or who is online.
Well, good ol’ Century Japan have just introduced something that could increase my productivity.
Namely the LCD-4300U USB mini screen.
So why would [...]
While Minox isn’t best known for exciting camera’s they have released a couple of noteworthy newies.
The DCC Leica M3 Gold Edition is a revamp of the silver version which I like but still; seen it before,

First thing that has caught my eye is this tiny puter.
I do have a soft-spot for the little micros that you can hide away and still are usable if you’d prefer a desktop when at home.
This two-inch-square Space Cube computer has apparently been making the rounds in Japan for quite a while but PC Pro [...]
There’s a trend for small desktop puters and our desks are becoming less cluttered.
If the offerings from the likes of Asus are still too big how about this little baby?
The Picotux 100 desktop computer isn’t going to be able to frag the competition in Half Life but it does have the firepower to type documents and possibly surf [...]
