asus designo 3Remember that binary inspired Asus Designo monitor that I was salivating over at the start of the month?

Yeah that range of hi-res, quick response LCD panels that measure in at a very slender 16.5mm thin.

Good news folks!

The Designo range will be getting a full UK launch in a week or so and I’ve even got a price for the 23.6 inch model – £244.

That matches in with the rumoured €299 price tag for the flagship Asus Designo MS monitor over in Italy.

This is also great news as that should surely mean that the 20 incher and the rest of the range will be cheaper than that :)

More as I get it!!

Asus Designo MS Slimline LCD Monitors are Binary Based

by Jay Garrett on September 9, 2009

asus MS monitorIf you don’t need two monitors and just one good looking one will do the job – check this out from Asus.

Yup – I said Asus!

Their new Designo MS Series LCD screens come in 20 inch to 23.6 inch flavours and look rather good to me.

Apparently the design concept behind the Asus Designo MS Series is inspired by binary – so you get numbers 1 and 0 (the ring stand and the 1 profile of the monitor) and black and white all worked into the ultra-slim monitor that has a 16.5mm profile.

That unique ‘Ergo Fit’ ring stand allows users to tilt the monitor with the pressure of a single finger.

The performance specs are also promising: a 2ms response, 1080P playback (in some models) and 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

We just need to wait to hear when they’ll be available and for how much.

Thumbnail image for Shinoda Unveils 1mm Thin Plasma Display

Dang!
Just check out the thickness, or rather lack-of, this screen.
This thin-film plasma display from Shinoda is one millimeter thick.
The picture shows that this marvel is actually a composite display made from six smaller ones – and it’s apparently quite weighty.
On the other hand the flexibility and abnormal thinness of the thing makes everything else unimportant.
I’ve no [...]

Thumbnail image for JVC Release Their Skinny 3D TV: JVC GD-463D10

JVC has just disclosed their 46 inch 3D TV.

The JVC GD-463D10 LCD TV is fully HD and 3D ready with a 1080p screen.
What gets me is the fact that at its fattest it’s still [...]

The UK is still waiting for Amazon’s latest eBook reader but it may already be redundant (if this baby comes over).
The Fujitsu FLEPia is Japan only and isn’t actually planned to be released in the UK – at the moment.
If it is released globally I can imagine a few worried faces in Amazon as the FLEPia [...]

Asus Wi-Fi Keyboard With PC and Touchscreen Built In

January 7, 2009 Click to read more →

A mini puter shoved inside a keyboard?
That’s what Asus seems to have acheived with their latest typepad.
The standard keyboard that comes with the Eee Top is real nice to use but this wireless offering with a 5-inch touch panel, solid state drive, Wi-Fi, ethernet and connectivity for just about every screen around the house is something else.
That [...]

JVC Flash Lightest and Greener Thin TV

January 5, 2009 Click to read more →

It’s all well and good that tele’s are getting thinner and larger but there’s only so much that your wall can take but JVC are taking this into account.
Their yet-to-be named lightweight goggle-box should be gracing the up-and-coming CES as the company attempts to sell the idea of ceiling-mounted TVs.
And when a 32-inch TV weighs just 5kg, you [...]

iPhone Pro and Elite – Slide Out Keyboard Design

Do you long for the iPhone to be given a real keyboard?
Some would  as others remain happy with the touch-screen style board.
With the aid of some Photoshop craftiness here are some design ideas – but we all have to take into consideration the additional width that a real keyboard would add to the Apple 3Gesus [...]

Will The Real Slim Xbox Please Stand Up

September 30, 2008 Click to read more →

Ok, there’s been more than a couple of rumours flying around about the new lithe Xbox 360.
Couple that with the fact that there has been no official confirmation of any such device and so this news should be treated with your usual dose of scepticism.
This time though, the rumour has been credited to a proper [...]
