Little robots are just getting better – every week it seems!

From one that can attack its roomies with various weapons to the really cool 1.26M NIT ZMP collaberation.

But none of them can really be described as being nimble, agile or elegant can they?

Japan-based Himeji Softworks looks like they’re on the right track with their funky JO-ZERO robot kit.

Whilst its not going to convince you that it is in fact a human it can still manage a range of movement that is quite breathtaking.

The reason why this small venture’s droid is remarkable is that JO-ZERO’s back is bendable like a humans (almost) which helps with the 30cm tall fella’s agility – that and the 20 joints in total (four in each arm, five in each leg and two in the back) and weighs just 800g.

He can even pick himself up after falling over, can get over obstacles and even crab under stuff.

To add to the cool factor JO-ZERO’s head was designed by a Manga artist – nice touch :)

You can program him by yourself (Nakamura-san, his inventor, says it’s pretty easy) and remote-control him via infrared.

If you fancy your own JO-ZERO it’s a steal at $1,300

Check out the vid below – keep watching and it keeps getting better!

Dell Mini 3i OPhone Flashed Before First Official Outing

by Jay Garrett on November 23, 2009

Dell mini 3i ophoneAnother new Dell but this one will fit into your pocket.

The puter purveyor has shown off its first entry into the smartphone market today.

The Dell Mini 3i will be launched this week in China.

The phone sports a 3.5 inch, 640×360 HD touchscreen display, built-in GPS, a 3-megapixel camera with auto-focus, Bluetooth and a microSD card slot for up to 32GB of expandable memory.

Thank goodness they decided against the monster 5 inch screen!

You get a choice of “Red Passion” and “Oiled Bronze” – these are the colours and not names of age restricted Blu-ray movies ;)

The distinct lack of 3G means that it wont be coming to Europe any time soon as, let’s face it, we kinda need that and rightly expect our smartphones to be rockin the 3G.

Am I wrong?

It’s already fairly common knowledge that Apple has rehired the former architect of the hand-writing recognising Apple Newton [...]

Keyboard players.
Ever since joining my first band in 1989 playing such joys as Van Halen’s Jump, Don’t You Forget About Me by Simple Minds and Incommunicado by Marillion, keyboard players have tended to be the most geeky of the band bunch.
They generally had the money, the latest toys and took up the most power points.
It [...]
