If you have hardwood floors and love robots to do the tedious task of wiping up after you then the Fukitorimushia floor-cleaning robot should be on top of your wishlist.
It inches along wriggling your floor clean like a cleaning compulsive caterpillar.
The Fukitorimushi (“wipe-up bug”) has been thought-up by Panasonic and is wrapped-up in a sticky nanocloth sleeve which collects dust and debris as the robot crawls, worm-style, across the floor.
The Fukitorimushi has sensors that seek out dirt and focuses on those problem areas – probably around the sofas and dining table
It looks great with a few of them creeping about the floor – I hope that there’ll be different coloured cloths and perhaps stick-on googley eyes available on release…………….
There’s no word on price or availability yet, but if a robo-worm wiping your wood (ooooer!) is what your dreams are made of check the video below.

Ever destined to remain in a mad-scientists lab until the governement had equipped its armies with the things before being slowly opened-up to the general populous.
It sounds like HAL is going straight to the people that need it first!
HAL can equip its wearer a tenfold strength increase during specific actions.
This would undoubtedly change the lives of people with degenerative muscle diseases or accident victims.
The Human Assistive Limb has a five-hour battery life so, almost a working day, so it would be practical.
I’m guessing that those into more extreme pass-times, factory workers, builders and other heavy industry workers would get use from this – oh and rich kids.
Becoming bionic will cost around $4200 when these things start rolling off the line.
The first run, to be sold in Japan, has a limited edition of 400 units.
I’m hoping that the people with real need get these first and not some rich person wanting to act out Iron Man.
I thought employing cats to advertise FEAR was a great idea but, frankly this is stacks cooler!
Terminator Skynet robots are popping up in the post.
SkynetResearch.com has cropped up promoting its vague goals to help advance mankind.
The best bit though is that they’re offering samples of real-life “robotic enhancement modules” to anyone that signs up - I’ve just [...]
