This reanimation of Milton Bradley’s educational tank is almost identical to the 6-wheeled original.
This Bigtrak comes complete with a front-mounted blue photon beam headlamp (used for firing) as well as the 16 command memory which triggers Bigtrak to remember such instructions as Forward, Backward, Left turn and of course Right turn, as well as Fire and Hold.
So do you buy the original version now or hang on for a month or so for Big Trak Jr for a fiver less?
So, what are we iPhone gamers going to use to better our scores?
Whilst trawling the interwebs for stuff to shove on Gadgety News I found something simply called the iPhone GamePad.
From what I can see, this is a slip on case for the first iPhone (a promise of 3G/3GS models) and will add the old-skool gaming controls of four primary control buttons plus a D-pad to your Apple smartphone. You also get a pair of shoulder buttons as well as Select and Start buttons.
CP Design are looking for people to help bring this prototype into the really real world of buyable probducts.
Well, I reckon that the days of bland-looking but ecologically lovely cars is behind us. If you check out the latest breed of electro and hybrid autos you can see that green is no-longer the only selling point. The likes of AMG, Jaguar and Lotus (albeit sporting a Tesla badge) are leading the way but [...]
Since I moved to PC gaming I still have rose-tinted flash-backs to the good ole 8-bit days. Hurrrah! For the aptly named 8-Bit Memory has produced a range of stuff for your modern life. There’s screen-shot mouse pads (priced from $9.99 to $14.99) which are all very well and good but it’s the custom hard [...]
Ah, TAITO! Back in ’78 you brought me the sound track of my youth, you gave me my first hit of geekahol and, more importantly, taught me that Space Invaders should be shot on sight. All this retro gaming reminiscing is all well and good but GadgetyNews brings you the new stuff. Well, despite Taito [...]
Now, I love retro sci-fi stuff and Playstation’s Move seems cool with that vibe. The PlayStation Move shooting attachment looks so awesome! I’m sure people would want one even if they didn’t own a Playstation The trigger of the attachment locks in with the analogue “T” trigger button of the slotted-in Move controller. The other buttons [...]
I’ve noticed an increasing amount of retro-styled bikes around recently. Even though I love the look of the Cruiser style and even the Mary Poppins type cycles out there – this one will out retro them all! Here’s a modern penny-farthing and it’s propper pedal-powered unlike that swanky pretender called Yike! The front wheel is [...]
Ok, some of you may have been caught out by Think Geek’s iCade but c’mon; I understand where you’re coming from. It makes perfect sense and I can imagine it selling well. Slot your new and shiny iPad into a desktop arcade cabinet and play retro games = genius! I for one will be hoping [...]
Every geek of a certain age will remember the now classic Commodore 64. It was at the height of 8 bit technology when it appeared in 1982 and over the following 12 years 17 million of the them were sold! The new C64 will be sporting Intel’s 64-bit quad-core microprocessors and 3D graphics capabilities upto [...]
You’ve probably seen Toy Story right? Even if you’ve somehow managed to avoid the computer generated animated flick you may have played with those cheap green plastic soldiers – if you happen to be a certain cousin of mine you probably also set fire to them at some point too! Well, the genii at LEGO [...]
This might be lost on those not around in the early 80′s but this gives me thrills aplenty! Bigtrak was a marvel – It was a six-wheeled vehicle with a front-mounted blue photon beam headlamp, and a keypad on top. Yup – this excitement is partly due to the fact that me and my bro [...]
At the risk of appearing that I’m all about the retro (be it ladies undergarments or headphones) here’s a return to the halcyon days of gaming. Sega Mega Drive – just the sound of the name transports me back to the days of ‘Road Rash’ and ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ and now (well, February) comes The [...]
Righty – you love the retro vibe, perhaps wearing some cool Space Invader tights, but you’re rocking some modern headphones – you’ve ruined the look! You could get yourself some mighty fine Koss Porta Pros, which I’ve owned and loved but they might be a little ‘off-the-shelf’ for someone as cool as you. May I [...]
For all you retro-fangirls and cool scenesters here’s some $80 Space Invaders tights. Guys – here’s some pictures of a girl in her underwear (check the gallery below)! I found these on Kokatu under the amusing headline ‘Space Invaders by Camel-Taito‘ Heheheheheh! Classy huh? There’s stacks of other designs to chose from including ‘Pheonix’, ‘Geishas’ [...]
The Philco PC is lovingly based on the fantastically futuristic and totally iconic Philco Predicta television set (check the gallery below) as well as some Steampunk influences. The re-imagining of the 50′s style set into a contemporary computer includes some real nice touches. Take the typewriteresque keyboard or the mouse which resembles something that would [...]
Were you one of those that sat for hours and painstakingly worked on drawing curved lines with your Etch-A-Sketch? Just to prove that the kids these days get everything waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too easy there’s a new Etch-A-Sketch on the block and it goes by the trendy name – Freestyle. Yup, this fresh, new version of the [...]
Awesome news abounds! Polaroid has confirmed that it’s getting together with instant film fans, The Impossible Project, to resurrect the classic and well loved instant film cameras. Yup -the format that was killed off last year is coming back people! The Impossible Project has spent the past 12 months working on a new film for [...]
Remember the post about the very lovely Brionvega audio gear. Sexiness in retro designer form. Well my UK living friends – good news! You can now buy a selection of goodies from right here, in this country of ours. The classic cube radio was designed in 1963 by Richard Sapper & Marco Zanuso and is [...]
Those of you out there of a certain age will be able to recall the romance of putting together a mix tape. In the Americanised, but still fab, film version of the great book Hi Fidelity – Rob puts the art of the mix tape thus: “The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking [...]
Those folks from Infectious produce some really cool iPhone skins but this is my favourite so far! If you miss your old skool tape deck that featured a counter so you could rewind back to the right place then you’ll love this. So, congratulations to designer Tony Aguero – Your ‘Retro Stuff Is Better iPhone [...]
