NendoThis is one of those beautifully simple designs.

The Music Cage comes courtesy of the Japanese brand Nendo.

Music Cage is a wireless speaker that allows you to listen to music from a computer or Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone without having to run cables to it.

In fact the only cable it does need is the one to power it. Even then you can ceiling mount it or just run it from your wall socket.

There’s even a stand designed to compliment it.

I reckon these are ideal for anyone with a conservatory or owns an old house where technology can look more than a little out of place. Just play some bird-song recordings and no-one would know that you are listening to it coming from a bluetooth enabled speaker :)

snap-dragon-laptopIt has been reported that there’s more than 30 products lined up that will be packing Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon chipset.

Qualcomm claims the 3G chipset, which incorporates graphics capabilities as well as a CPU, will enable low-power, always-on devices – these hybrid laptop-cum-smart-phone thingies Qualcomm has named ‘smartbooks‘.

Snapdragon will enable mini laptop style devices – with screens of between nine and 12 inches – to run for between four to six hours without needing to be charged, according to a spokesman. Smartphones using Snapdragon will be able to run for longer.

More than 15 companies are working on Snapdragon-based devices, including Acer, Asus, HTC, LG, Toshiba and Samsung.

Qualcomm are still playing somethings close to their collective chests and no product specifics or launch dates have been revealed – although expect things to appear this year ;)

The spokesman said that an open-source Linux operating system will be used to underpin the graphical user interface on devices powered by Snapdragon, but that the GUI will be more important to the user than the OS.
