Chatting to some of my buddies last week we discussed the importance of the next iPhone having a better camera and thought that the rumoured 5MP replacement was a good idea.
The point I made was that I could live with the 3MP version in exchange for a decent flash.
Hello – what is this? It looks like Apple may be looking for mass quantities of LED flash components to improve low-light shooting.
This latest rumour seems to point at the Philips’ LumiLEDs line and a contract thought to be in the tens of millions of units.
The flash would be a much welcomed addition to the iPhone and if coupled with that 5MP sensor – Ooooooo….. Kiss my face!

This seems a great idea at first.
No more annoying squished films on a ‘normal’ shaped telebox.
But then, after thinking about this for a little while………
Philips’s new 56-inch LCD, bound for Europe, is boasting a 21:9 aspect ratio—displaying a full anamorphic 2.40:1 frame without letterboxing.
Fantastic!
But if you also watch television programmes…………..
Or how about those flicks that aren’t filmed in 2.40:1 (2.40:1 is the aspect ratio of Panavision 70mm film) or the many, many thousands of films shot in less-than-21:9, you’ll get those letterboxes on the side.
You won’t even get to enjoy those IMAX scenes from Dark Knight in their glorious full-frame beauty.
But, saying that, if you’re generally rocking blockbuster films out of your Blu-ray player then this is the TV for you. :OP
Philips is looking at a Spring ‘09 release.
There’ll be more to tell in a few weeks so start planning your home-cinema now!
