Olympus Corporation

Panasonic GF1I loved the Panasonic G1 and it proved itself to be idiot proof as I almost won a competition with it when I had one to review.

Now it seems that Panasonic has checked out the Olympus E-P1 and thought retro is where it’s at.

Say hello to the Panasonic GF1.

So, what’s the difference ‘tween the G1 and GH1 compared with GF1?

Well, remember that they had modern little DSLR-type bodies? The Panasonic GF1 is much squarer and is more like the nostalgically styled Panasonic LX3 in the looks department.

The new old-looking Panasonic GF1 get’s a 12.1 megapixel sensor, a 3 inch screen and AVCHD Lite 720p video.

You also get a pop-up flash and a hot shoe for attaching accessories – Panasonic also followed Olympus by dropping the viewfinder.

Lens-wise, in the leaked pics there’s a compact 20mm F1.7 and a Leica 45mm F2.8.

As you’d expect from leaked news – no other firm details out there just yet.

olympus-e-p1-in-handAh, Olympus E-P1, you are a beautiful retro camera aren’t you?

I’ve been stalking admiring you from afar since September.

And now I catch you being groped by young ladies whilst being videoed!

Excellent! :)

The PEN E-P1 get’s an image stabilised (sensor-shift) 12.3 megapixel Live MOS sensor with TruePic V image processing, ISO 100-6400 sensitivity, a 3-inch LCD, 20 shooting modes (5 exposure, i-Auto, and 14 automatic scenes), an SDHC slot, and HDMI TV-out for playback of 720p (1280×720 pixel) recorded video at 30fps.

The 14-42 lens kit retracts into the barrel when not in use and OlympusSupersonic Wave Filter helps keep dust under control when swapping-out the lens for Micro Four Thirds, Four Thirds, or OM lenses.

Photography site Four Thirds User was lucky enough to get hands-on with the Olympus E-P1 at the launch event in Berlin, and shoot a couple of videos at 720p, at a smooth 30fps. The results seem to be pretty darned fine for something so compact.

Prices start at £699.

Have a looksee at the last 2 vids below – the first vid is the little hussy being fondled :)

Thumbnail image for Panasonic Gel Remote – Breathes and Gets Stiff [odd concept]

This odd Dali-esque gel remote comes courtesy of Panasonic’s concept dept.
The control lays limp when not in use, pulsating with a soft light.
But when it detects a warm hand coming to grip it and put it to use it stiffens – ready for action!
The remote is made from soft, flesh-like gel and appears cold [...]
