Star Wars AT-AT Reissued – Even More Awesomer

by Jay Garrett on February 15, 2010

If, like me, you never had an AT-AT of your own.

Well, now’s your chance – and this one is sooooooo much better!

To help mark the glorious 30th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, Hasbro have reissued the saga’s most awesome vehicles.

Costing $100 this AT-AT measures over 2 foot tall and is almost 28 inches long, and 12 inches wide.

The new AT-AT can actually hold up to 20 Star Wars figures – half-a-dozen of those in the head alone!

It also comes with the zip-line in its body as well as LED lights and authentic movie sounds and phrases.

Just to clinch that deal it includes a 3 ¾ inch AT-AT driver action figure and a pop-out speeder bike.

Now, where’s my Snow Speeder and credit card!!???!!

Find yours then head here.

Aramtrix Pistol Steps Closer to the Lawgiver

by Jay Garrett on January 30, 2010

It looks like gun makers are stepping towards the future with a security feature worthy of Judge Dredd’s Lawgiver.

In order to fire off some rounds from the latest firearms by Armatix you need to be wearing a very unassuming wrist watch.

The watch sends a wireless arming signal to the gun. If the gun is picking up a signal from the watch, a green LED on the back lights up.

If you’re not wearing the watch and squeeze the handle, instead of exploding like the Lawgiver would, you just get a red warning light.

If you fancy the .22cal shooter with the futuristic safety device it will cost you around 7,000 euros.

Chatting to some of my buddies last week we discussed the importance of the next iPhone having a better camera and thought that the rumoured 5MP replacement was a good idea.
The point I made was that I could live with the 3MP version in exchange for a decent flash.
Hello – what is this? It [...]

The future is now!
Who hasn’t dreamed that they could do away with speakers that clutter the floor or wall but still have music piped into every room?
Well, the Klipsch LightSpeakers could be for you my friend.
These speakers screw into your light fittings and before you say: “Great; I get sound but no light” these also [...]

AR seems to be the latest coolest thing.
There’s app’s appearing like Kooaba and Layar that overlay info in real-time over real objects but that’s not enough.
Nope – not enough for a team at the University of Washington who’s busy developing a prototype contact lens that would function as an LED computer display, projecting images directly [...]

The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic Illuvial, Nokia 6700 Illuvial and the Nokia 6303 Illuvial are being flung into the Christmas market and I’m guessing that they’re aimed squarely at the lovely ladies
This guess is purely based on the knowledge that there Illuvial editions are coloured in shades of purple and pink, with themed wallpapers, “floral [...]

After being pointed to a Twitter post that said that “The BT Tower is currently going nuts with little flashes of light firing off it” I decided to investigate.
Was this new flashy show an attempt to ward of Kitten Kong (see below)?
Was it a huge electrical fault?
Was BT just showing off?
Well, apparently it’s just a [...]

More Apple rumours abound after the store went down for a while and nothing happened.
Apparently Apple is telling their direct-sales channels (that’s highstreet Apple stores to you and I) that they won’t be honouring orders for iMacs and Mac Minis in the short term.
Yup – I jumped to the same conclusion that an update is [...]

Lightsaber Torch – Use The Darkside for Enlightenment

How cool is this?
The lightsaber flashlight (or torch to us Brits) is a replica of Darth Vader’s weapon of choice and, unfortunately, is only loaded with 4 red LEDs instead of a laser that can cut through any young Jedi wannabe who would be using their own torch (complete with sound-effects!).
It’s powered by 3 (Sith [...]

This post that I saw on Boing Boing should be of interest to you folk out there that self-propel themselves on two wheels.
Monkeylectric have unleashed a lighting system comprised of LEDs that attaches to your bike spokes.
This will then allow you to displays patterns and even words as you ride.
It’s essentially a AA battery-powered 256 RGB [...]
