Cell RegzaToshiba’s next-generation Cell Regza TV has just been launched and should be hitting the stores in time for Christmas in Japan.

So – if you happen to have been a very good boy or girl perhaps Santa will dip in the £7,000 to drop one of these lovely tv’s into your swag-bag!

Toshiba needs to step-up with that kind of asking price and, from what I gather, they’ve pretty much done so.

The Cell Regza 55X1 is powered by Tosh’s new Cell technology which dishes out 55 inches of LED backlit screen with 512 distinct areas of controlled lighting.

Resolution comes in at a eye-taunting 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio – for those that are interested in arithmetic processing: apparently this baby is 143 times better than that of the current top-of-the-line Regza TV.

Is that seven grands worth?

Some would say so – not Tosh.

They’ve even chucked in a 3TB hard drive and a ‘time shift machine’ which can simultaneously record up to approximately 26 hours of programming from up to eight channels into that slender body.

You can search any of those recordings using keywords and you can also access YouTube directly from the set, as well as doing wider browsing via the built-in Opera browser and DLNA connectivity.

For telly junkies – you can also watch 8 shows at once!! :)

If you can’t splash out the £7,000 Toshiba is says not to worry as they’ll have other smaller versions on the horizon, specifically, 37 and 42 inch models.

Oh – those and a 3D model and a 4K2K model which upconverts 1080p to 3840 x 2160 resolution – these are a way off though.

Let’s hope we get to see the 55 inch Cell Regza TV over here in the UK as it’s pencilled to drop here before Autumn 2010.

You get a budget PC-based [...]

The EeePC 9 incher has just been unveiled at the CeBIT exhibition in Hanover, Germany.
The Eee PC 900, as it shall be known, uses the same chassis to the previous model but gets rid of the 7 inch display in favour of an 8.9 inch model.
This has been managed by replacing the original speakers with prettier thin ones.  The [...]
