Apple Mac iTabletThe interwebs remain ablaze with iProd/iTablet rumours and it doesn’t look like they’re gonna calm down anytime soon.

iLounge is fanning the flames using the same source that gave it an early heads-up on the new iPod Nano 5G.

It’s already fairly common knowledge that Apple has rehired the former architect of the hand-writing recognising Apple Newton and now there’s more!

Word is that the Apply one has developed not one, not two but three prototypes for the glorious flatbed.

It looks like Apple toyed with a 7 inch screen but chucked that out in favour of a 10.7 inch poke and prod friendly number which should appear on the retail version.

Chances are that the iProd with follow the much loved aesthetics of the iPhone 3GS – that means a glossy slab with a curved back.

It will sport a 3G networking option and that screen should have “720p or thereabouts” resolution.

The focus of the device will be media just like the iPhones and iPod touches, though it’s suggested that it will also serve as a replacement for books and magazines (i.e. an e-book reader).

The iTablet isn’t designed to compete directly with netbooks apparently.

So when will we get our hands on the Apple tablet? Not until May or June 2010 apparently but it’ll be announced at a big event on January 19.

That is if Steve Jobs gives it the green for go.

That naughty little tipster hints that Jobs is still assessing the product.

iPod Nano 5G Pictured From a Source That Knows

by Jay Garrett on May 26, 2009

ipodnano5giLounge have already posted a picture of the iPod nano 5G – well a mock up anyhoo.

The next iPod nano won’t be out til later this year at the earliest but this pic is apparently a good idea of what the next version of the petite PMP will look like.

Latest tipsters have pointed at the possibility of the nano 5G packing a camera but iLounge has gone a step or two further.

This is all based on insider knowledge and if this source is right then the iPod nano 5G does will look like the current iPod nano 4G, but there a few important tweaks.

The main one must be that the the screen gets a wider aspect ratio, 1.5:1, so black bars are banished and movies will fill more of the tiny screen.

The camera will live round the back.

I was kinda expecting a touchscreen but if the tipster is on the up-and-up it looks like we’ll have a wheel for a while yet.

There’s not even a nod in the direction of a release date but looking back; the last two versions have appeared in August/September time.

That would be around the time all the hoo-har has died down after the new iPhone 3G has seen its release.
