Read Your 8-bit Future on 8-bit Tarot Cards

by Jay Garrett on August 5, 2009

8_bit_tarot_cardsMost people will have at least heard of Tarot cards – when I had the time I learned to read them and actually gave readings to a load of friends.

I use a traditional Rider-Waite deck but the geek in me was drawn to this cool spin on the Tarot card.

This modern reworking is what happens when the ancient mysteries collide with classic Nintendo Entertainment System graphics.

The cards are actually based on the Rider-Waite Tarot Deck and each illustration was made with an 88×152 resolution “using only the colors in the default 9-bit Mac OS color palette.”

Never realised that there was a 9-bit version ;)

The set includes a 78-card deck in “an 8-bit cardboard keepsake box.” Available for $29.99 from ThinkGeek.

I’m really loving this $50 Retro Mini Handheld NES System available from ThinkGeek.
The difference from those other portable emulation machines that you have to order from far away lands – this handheld ships right from the states and plays actual NES cartridges.
It’s powered by 4 AA batteries and apparently runs for over eight hours.
There’s also [...]

But it can do quite [...]

HP Pavillion DV2 Entertainment Notebook – Not Netbook

Don’t be calling it a Netbook, oh no!
This is an “Entertainment Laptop” baby.
But then with a size of just 12.1 inches, a thickness of less than an inch and a weight of just 3.8 pounds (1.7kg), I’m sure that it’s just as luggable as any budget mobile computing offering.
But there are a few differences with the [...]

Let me introduce you to the very cool (if not a little scary) world of Augmented reality (AR).
This is the combination of virtual worlds and reality and could lead to extremely useful applications in navigation systems, medicine, architecture and many other fields.
Geisha Tokyo Entertainment Inc. [JP] now found a way to help all single Otaku [...]

Sound Asleep?

Nevermind that the color scheme looks like it was designed by Ronald McDonald —this Gravity Zero bed is packing some serious features like a 150-Watt sound system, 2 sleep system motors, 2 powerful massage systems with 12 programs, four-joint adjustability, flexible shoulder comfort zone, pneumatic hand control, and a ventilated Talalay latex mattress for added [...]
