Tiny Funai Projector Makes Any Wall Multitouch

by Jay Garrett on October 8, 2009

Funai Multitouch Projector ScannerFunai has an added bonus in their pico projector – the ability to make any surface multitouch.

This prototype uses a Nippon Signal MEMS scanner and a heap of clever tech that when all combined is able to throw multitouch capabilities to whatever surface the projected image hits!

Just think, bedroom wall, office whiteboard, your desk – wherever that image is projected live you can count on that surface having multitouch capabilities.

Users are able to simply twist and turn the image in order to have it modified in real-time

Check out Engadget’s vid below to see it in action – they expect the tech to go commercial sometime next year.

Courier FoldingIt was whispered about but check out this fire fuel!

Microsoft’s tablet, named ‘Courier UX has featured in an image outing.

It hasn’t been confirmed (or denied for that matter) but those know-it-alls over at Gizmodo claim that these leaked images and details of the Courier UX are genuine.

More tantalizingly they also state that the device has entered the latter stages of prototype development.

The pics and video (yeah – moving pictures exist for the Courier UX!) show a book-like system that uses two touchscreens, kinda like the EeeReader.

Both screens can be poked and stroked by finger or stylus and there’s even a 3-megapixel camera on the back.

It’s all very groovy but the thing that had me slightly confused is that apparently it isn’t a Windows 7 lump of tech.

Then all became clear – I was looking at it all wrong.

I should’ve been looking at the Micorsoft Courier UX as a small Surface device.

The OS indeed resembles the Surface operating system with the added bonus of mobile niceties such as maps and internetweb.

Enjoy the renders here and then nip over to Gizmodo to see more and the video demo.

The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan has conjured up a flexible display that allows a smartphone’s screen to double to five inches.
This actually makes the screen size comparable to many netbooks and all-in-all a lot less bulky than the iCEPhone.

The demo device is branded the “Nokia Communicator” and comprises an editing keyboard (lower [...]
