wiiNintendo has just trademarked the title “Zii” in Japan which is to be used for computer games and electronic devices, according to the paperwork released today.

The company actually filed for the trademark on October 30, but this was only just released on the trademark database.

This means that Nintendo has protected the word “Zii” and intends to use it in both computer games’ titles and in naming gaming devices – I wonder what Creative and their Zii thinks about this ;)

So, what could the Nintendo bring?

Some are assuming that it will be the Hi-def packing successor to the Wii but it could also be a multitouch handheld as there has been some chat regarding an Nvidia graphics packing Nintendo DS2. I bet Sony’s PSPgo is feeling a tad nervous.

Most are agreed that it will probably include or even just be a Blue-ray addition, like the much-hyped Microsoft version, giving the Wii a much-needed movie based boost and convincing punters to jump on the HD bandwagon.

Endadget does mention that this filing may be a renewal of a trademark request from 2006. The company also trademarked “Cii,” “Bii,” “Oii,”and “Yii”; could we see a Pii to replace the Wii?

So what do you think?

Is the Zii a peripheral, new console, a new handheld or software – or is this just grabbing words ending in ii?

nintendo-dsi-ll-on-tableRemember the super-sized Nintendo DSi with the large screen from a coupla weeks ago?

Well now there’s an official flick for it.

This is the first screening for the Nintendo DSi XL (or LL as it’s known in Japan) from the larger hand-held. The good thing is that it gives you a good idea of both the size of the screen and the extra large prodding stick – or stylus as they call it.

As you may recall – the target market are those that are not as nimble or well sighted as they used to be.

No! Not me! (yet).

Also on the vid is a shot of all the mellow colours that it will be coming in.

Not exactly the peeper abusing shades of the PSPgo.

It wont be reaching us til next year but you can still watch in action though :)

First things first – I looooove the idea of gesture controls for my media player!
Project Natal is a bar that sits above or below your TV, much like the Wii’s sensor bar.
But instead of sensing controllers, this thing has a camera, sensors and a microphone inside that lets it get an accurate sense of where [...]
