HTC Legend – Apple Flavoured Android?

by Jay Garrett on February 16, 2010

HTC have been busy and have unveiled a number of new mobiles at the MWC.

Thing is that, in my opinion, none of them look as lovely as the HTC Legend.

The body is carved from a single piece of aluminum – Mmmmm….. unibody….. I hope Apple are watching! ;)

Under that gorgeous hood purrs Android 2.1 wrapped up in HTC Sense.

It’s fitted with a 3.2 inch capacitive AMOLED screen with a res of 320 x 480 pixels.

The Legend sports a 5.0 megapixel snapper that’s paired up with autofocus and flash.

This is all pushed along by a 600 MHz processor and 512MB ROM and 384MB of RAM.

There’s a microSD slot to increase it’s capacity as well as the now expected Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

I’m particularly digging this “helicopter view”. Perhaps another inspiration from Apple – think Mac OS X’s exposé.

With Helicopter you get to be able to pinch the screen to view all the five Android homescreens which helps you jump from widget to widget with ease.

Social Networked butterflies will get plenty use out of the new FriendStream. This pulls together all status updates, photos and links from your various social networking sites (Twitter, Facebook and Flickr are the ones supported at the mo), but you can still use the individual widgets and apps if that’s how you roll.

It’s out in Europe late March/early April – go on; admit it. It’s nice :)

Microsoft Project Pink Mobiles Made Official

by Jay Garrett on February 13, 2010

The MWC is a matter of hours away and most eyes will be on what Microsoft will be bring to parade on centre-stage.

Windows Phone 7 is almost a given but it seems that the Project Pink phone, Sharp’s ‘Turtle’, as been FCC’d (Federal Communications Commission).

The diagram on the right for model PB10ZU shows more than a passing resemblance to the Turtle pic I posted about in September.

According to the paperwork the PB10ZU will be loaded with dual-band CDMA, EVDO, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.

Engadget spotted that the FCC filing’s details are being withheld until March 29. That’s just after the potential Zune Phone unveiling that is rumoured to take place at the CTIA conference in Vegas.

Expect more about lots of other new phones over the coming few days ;)

Let’s face it though – until you read the spec-sheet they all look the [...]
