It’s happened!

10,000,000,000 songs have been sold through iTunes.

So, who’s top of the iPops then?

Guitarists, look away now as there’s not much evidence of axe-weilding amongst the 20 most-downloaded iTunes songs of all time.

The only ‘real’ bands spotted in the charts are Coldplay (in at 5 with Vida la Vida) and Plain White Ts (in at 18 with Hey There Delilah). No, Subset aren’t there quite yet ;)

The Black Eyed Peas top the iTunes most downloaded song chart with ‘I Gotta Feeling’ – quite remarkable for a track that only hit iTunes on March 30 2009. The quartet also Boom Boom Powed to the number 3 spot.

Unsurprisingly, if you keep an eye on the charts, Lady Gaga also grabbed a pair of spots with ‘Poker Face’ at number 2 and ‘Just Dance’ getting number 6.

I’d like to think that bands aren’t out of fashion rather that their fans would rather own CD’s or even vinyl.

Am I right or just holding onto a mistaken notion that bands can still be of worth in these technologically advanced times?

Here’s the list:

1) “I Gotta Feeling,” Black Eyed Peas
2) “Poker Face,” Lady GaGa
3) “Boom Boom Pow,” Black Eyed Peas
4) “I’m Yours,” Jason Mraz
5) “Viva la Vida,” Coldplay
6) “Just Dance,” Lady GaGa featuring Colby O’Donis
7) “Low,” Flo Rida (featuring T-Pain)
8 ) “Love Story,” Taylor Swift
9) “Bleeding Love,” Leona Lewis
10) “TiK ToK,” Ke$ha
11) “Disturbia,” Rihanna
12) “So What,” Pink
13) “I Kissed a Girl,” Katy Perry
14) “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” Beyoncé
15) “Hot N Cold,” Katy Perry
16) “Stronger,” Kanye West
17) “Live Your Life,” T.I. (featuring Rihanna)
18) “Hey There Delilah,” Plain White T’s
19) “Right Round,” Flo Rida
20) “Party in the U.S.A.,” Miley Cyrus

Now, I can’t promise that this is real but unless someone had a load of time on their hands, this video of the LG BL-40 Black Label Chocolate looks pretty convincing to me.
The rumored 21:9 800 x 345 display is there (which is said in the video to be 4 inches diagonal), as is the [...]

LG is preparing a new mobile phone confection in the guise of its Black Label Chocolate BL-40.
It looks as though, quite fittingly, the LG BL-40 will be a candybar style blower unlike the original Chocophone and it’ll most probably be available in Europe and Asia only, as a GSM phone, with a US version possible [...]

Electric Taxi Comes To London

The headline isn’t the announcement of a new Pro-Rock group gigging in the capital but the dawning of the electric black cab.
The iconic TX4 (London Black Cab) taxis that fly up and down the streets of London are going to be getting an overhaul.
In the interest of reducing costs, improving air quality, and replacing the aging fleet, [...]

iPhone Gets Copy and Paste – Kinda

Apart from MMS the biggest gripe with the iPhone is the lack of Copy and Paste.
How can it be that this really gorgeous bit of tech is unable to do something so common in text editors since the 80’s?
MagicPad, a new application from Proximi is finally making copy and paste a reality on the iPhone [...]

British Telecom have raised the game with version 2 of their Home Hub.
Using ‘n’ standard Wi-Fi, making them the only broadband provider to do this in the UK, it increases the reach and makes it faster to stream films and music through your home.
It comes in black which for me is a huge plus point – [...]

LG Black Label – Tastier than Chocolate, Flasher than Shine?

Most of you will be aware of LGs range of sexy fashionable phones.
The Chocolate was tasty as its name suggests and the Shine was a little star.  LG is now launching another assault on our style sensibilities with its classy Black Label series.
The designers promise us that the phone will be the world’s slimmest 5-megapixel camera phone.  That’ll be no small order as to [...]

None-more Black

January 16, 2008 Click to read more →

A scientist at Rice University has managed to create the world’s darkest material ever.  This was acheived with pure carbon nanotubes, thus reflecting only .045% of all light shined on it.
To put that into real terms; it’s 100 times darker than the darkest paint on the darkest car.
As well as being darned clever this stuff is [...]
