all in one

acer-aspire-z5600Acer has just launched a number of new machines and I’ve also grabbed a bunch of official pics to go with :)

So, what are they chucking our way?

Well, there’s an 11.6 inch Aspire One netbook, a new range of Aspire all-in-ones and the Aspire Revo nettop – yeah, I hear ya.  Kinda reminiscent of Asus’s Eee range isn’t it?

The 11.6 inch Acer Aspire One has a WXGA resolution screen, the expected netbook specs of 160GB HDD, Atom chip, Wi-Fi and you also get Bluetooth, 3G and Dolby ProLogic Sound.

The Acer Aspire Revo nettop is quite a neat package.  It also runs the 1.6GHz Atom processor but squeezes in up to 4 gigs of RAM, up to 250GB of hard drive and will handle 1080p video.

The new toy that’s grabbed my eye, however, is the Acer Aspire all-in-one.

Perhaps it’s because I have a soft-spot for the Asus Eee Top already – personally I think that the Acer version looks better.

You get a choice between 18.5″ and 24″ flavours for your all-in-ones.

The 18.5inch eMachine EZ1600, has a resolution of 720p, 160GB HDD, DVD drive and Wi-Fi.

Whereas the fabby Acer Aspire Z5600 AIO, with a 24 inch, full HD touchscreen, TV tuner, Blu-ray and 2TB of storage.

I’m still awaiting details of release dates and prices – but be sure in the knowledge that as soon as I hear anything it will appear on this site :0)

Check out the pics below while you wait.

Asus Wi-Fi Keyboard With PC and Touchscreen Built In

by Jay Garrett on January 7, 2009

asus-touchboardA mini puter shoved inside a keyboard?

That’s what Asus seems to have acheived with their latest typepad.

The standard keyboard that comes with the Eee Top is real nice to use but this wireless offering with a 5-inch touch panel, solid state drive, Wi-Fi, ethernet and connectivity for just about every screen around the house is something else.

That 5-inch touchscreen can be used for shortcuts, media browsing and use as a virtual mouse.

As this is just a prototype at the moment, ASUS were cagey about its potential for market availability but here’s hoping that this kind of ‘all in one’ appears soon :)

When I saw Sony’s new all-in-one desktop lineup spotted at CEDIA 2008 even I could see that Sony’s designers must have worked long and hard.
