DS

DSi and LL comparisonIt was whispered about earlier this week and in a quick turn around the larger screened DSi is confirmed as being real.

Enter the Nintendo DSi LL
.

Launched at a Nintendo press event in Tokyo, the Nintendo DSi LL will instantly be applauded by the eye-strained and Brain Training lovers that, by all accounts, tend to be a little older than the average gamer.

The larger screen will no doubt be handy for internet browsing and the larger font will be equally handy for reading track names on the music player.

The DSi LL has a peeper-kind 4.2 inch screen which is a full 93% increase over the DS Lite’s screen size – Just check all the comparisons below ;)

According to Nintendo, this has been done to oblige the the request of customers.

My more cynical side suggests perhaps spreadsheets, accountants and shareholders may have a hand in this as Christmas is just around the corner.

I could be wrong – it has been known.

The DSi LL will arrive bundled with two touch pens: one shorter and one longer touch pen (129.3mm), along with three DSiWare titles pre-installed – two brain training games (one for humanities, the other for sciences) and DS Easy Dictionary.

When it drops in Japan on November 21st you get a choice of 3 colours: dark brown, wine red and natural white.

As for seeing one in the UK in time for the festive season; I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

Perhaps when Santa comes over see if he can swoop past Japan after delivering in the States.

Here’s the full comparison:

Nintendo of America Asks: Who is Sony’s PSP Go For?

by Jay Garrett on October 12, 2009

psp-goThe Christmas battle has commenced and Nintendo gaffer, Reggie Fils–Aime, has thrown of his gloves and slapped the Sony PSPgo firmly across the chops.

Reggie is known for telling it like he sees it – while he was having a go at the go he also took a quick swipe at the iPod Touch.

The PSPgo has been in the news, mainly regarding its price but Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime has put his cards on the table when chatting with The Washington Post about the PSPgo.

Mr fils-Aime said, “I have the utmost respect for all our competitors, but it’s interesting to try and answer the consumer question of ‘What’s in it for me?’ in that product.”

and then went on to say that the PSPgo had a, “fundamental concept problem in terms of ‘Who’s it for?’ and ‘What’s the benefit?’”

He was then on a roll and got the iPod Touch in his sights.

Saying the he sees that the iPod touch continues to grow as a gaming platform but the Nintendo DS offered an experience that couldn’t be matched by Apple’s efforts.

Speaking of titles including Mario Kart and Scribblenauts, he said, “All of these experiences are very unique and very different and what you cannot find on their App Store.”

So – which do you favour and why?

iPod Touch, PSPgo or Nintendo DS/i?

Let me know :)
