It was only a matter of time wasn’t it?

The Micro Four Thirds market is growing enough for Panasonic to whip out the first Micro Four Thirds video camera!

The Panasonic AG-AF100 will be able to use any of the interchangable Micro Four Thirds lenses that are already out there – obviously lenses borrowed from the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 as well as those from the Olympus Pen E-P2 and, with a mount adapter, the new camcorder will also be able to take lenses made by other companies like Nikon, Canon and Leica. You’ll be spoilt for choice!

The AF100 shoots 1080p at 24 frames per second which is recorded in H.264 format. You get an onboard stereo mic as well as a pair of XLR inputs for alternative mic’ing.

Your flicks are stored via memory cards shoved in the to two SD-card slots. The camera supports SDHC cards as well as the clever SDXC cards which can offer up a stonking 2TB of storage!

I’m guessing that this AF100 camcorder will be popular amongst those talented amateurs and film students out there as well as those filmmakers on tighter budgets or filming in tighter spaces.

If Panasonic follows the lead made by their still Micro Four Thirds offerings it’s safe to say that more pro video 4/3 cameras may well follow.

Let’s hope the real thing is priced as nice as the render looks ;)

Panasonic GF1I loved the Panasonic G1 and it proved itself to be idiot proof as I almost won a competition with it when I had one to review.

Now it seems that Panasonic has checked out the Olympus E-P1 and thought retro is where it’s at.

Say hello to the Panasonic GF1.

So, what’s the difference ‘tween the G1 and GH1 compared with GF1?

Well, remember that they had modern little DSLR-type bodies? The Panasonic GF1 is much squarer and is more like the nostalgically styled Panasonic LX3 in the looks department.

The new old-looking Panasonic GF1 get’s a 12.1 megapixel sensor, a 3 inch screen and AVCHD Lite 720p video.

You also get a pop-up flash and a hot shoe for attaching accessories – Panasonic also followed Olympus by dropping the viewfinder.

Lens-wise, in the leaked pics there’s a compact 20mm F1.7 and a Leica 45mm F2.8.

As you’d expect from leaked news – no other firm details out there just yet.
