Samsung Omnia HD – 720p Recording Camera Phone

by Jay Garrett on February 16, 2009

omniahdSamsung has flashed their Omnia replacement that goes by the name of OmniaHD in front of the MWC posse!

The OmniaHD has those 2 extra letters for good reason.

This is the first ever phone that’s actually capable of recording video in 720p HD which is all very clever.  What’s the good of capturing 720p HD but not being able to play it back on the same handset at the same quality?

That’s Samsung’s feelings too - the OmniaHD’s 3.7” touchscreen AMOLED display has now set the standard for everyone else to reach.

The OmniaHD is also packing  the latest Symbian S60 5th edition platform.

Symbian/Nokia developed it specifically with high resolution and touchscreen displays in mind and as well as looking droolworthy, the touchscreen interface has been considerably improved since the orginal Omnia.

As well as all that HDness the phone brags an 8.0 megapixel still camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, HSDPA and a choice of 16GB or 32GB on board memory.

Nice :)
