Samsung Galaxy S3 Revealed – Here’s the S III Specs and the Details

Samsung Galaxy S3 OfficialIt’s here! After many rumours you can finally see what the Samsung Galaxy S III actually looks like.

The long awaited arrival of the latest Samsung Galaxy smartphone has been greeted by the S III sporting a huge 4.8-inch 720p display, as well as a powerful quad-core processor and Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

The follow-up to the ever popular Galaxy S II not only sees the dropping of rightangles in favour or a curved, pebble-like design but it also kicks the colour black in to touch. The Galaxy S III will, instead, be available in ‘Pebble Blue’ and ‘Marble White’.

Here’s the juicy bits

There’s the grunt of Samsung’s own 1.4GHz Exynos quad-core processor under the hood which works with 1GB of RAM.

On top you get the 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display which throws out a eye-spanking 1280 x 720p resolution and 306 pixels-per-inch image density – that’s not far from the iPhone 4S’ Retina display.

Flip the S III over and you will see the 8-megapixel camera which captures 1080p Full HD. The snapper on the front aint bad either, weighing in with a 1.9-megapixel self portrait camera which can handle 720p HD video.

Innovations

Samsung claims the S III has a ‘more intelligent’ lock system, as it keeps the screen ‘awake’ when the phone’s camera senses eyes watching it, rather than turning it off. Yup, it can tell when you’re looking at it. Anyone else find that just a tad creepy?

The voice control system is called S Voice – and allows access to weather forecasts, web searches and scheduling, similar to iPhone’s Siri system.

Saying ‘I want to take a picture’ launches the camera application. Apparently S Voice will work in eight languages at launch – I wonder if that includes Yorkshire, Brummy, Geordie and Glaswegian?

S Voice can also reply out loud – which Samsung claims will allow the system to be used while driving.

Sizes and Release Date

All of this slips in to a slim at 8.6mm thick, and tips the scales at a very modest 133g.

It comes in 16, 32 or 64GB versions, and also sports a MicroSD card slot for memory boosting – the S III also has a removable battery.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich is on board, tweaked by Samsung’s TouchWiz interface.

Start looking for the Samsung S III in UK near the end of the month.
