Pay As You Gym – Pay For When and What You Use via iPhone

It’s January and how many of us have pledged to be fitter and healthier in 2011?

How many have already started skipping gym sessions for drinks in the local?

Thing is most gyms ask for a month’s dosh up front and if your routine doesn’t fit into your gym regime then you end up wasting money. I for one can’t guarantee when I’ll have time as my evenings get used up randomly for gigs, meetings, etc.

PayAsUGym may have the answer though.

as the name suggests PayAsUGym works like PAYG mobiles or Oyster Cards – You work out when you want to and only pay for what you use.

Just top up your eWallet online, or through the iPhone app, and then pick your local participating gym to spend your credit.  At the moment the gyms are based in London / South East England.

It launches tomorrow – I’m thinking of signing up and giving it a blast.

I might see you there then :)

    Hi,

Wrt “payasUgym” I am interested to know how much e.g per hour it will cost to use a gym? The hourly rate may be very expensive compared to the monthly subscription price.

I registered my details by mistake on the payasUgym website filling up the incorrect section “gym operator” with details of the gyms I am interested for further info but then I realize that I had to fill up the “gym user” details instead. Please note that I am not a gym operator but just a gym user.

Awaiting your reply on this matter.

    Hey Kevin.

    Thanks for the question :)

It will vary with each gym, just as memberships do.

I’ve searched for gyms in my home area and they range from £7-£9.

Then I searched the area of my day job and it listed gyms in Mayfair at £15 :0.

Minimum top-up is a tenner and the most you can have on your eWallet is £100.

    Hi Garrett,

The top figure monthly membership of a no pay as you go gyn i.e normal full membership is £70 per month. (i.e for this can use the gym anytime of the day/evening). The hourly cost you quoted me for the pay as you go gym is far too expensive!

I personally think that the pay as you gym option will be more attractive if the hourly rate is quite low e.g £1 per hour?
