About me: I'm Jason Garrett, more often than not I'm known as Jay Garrett - only my parents tend to call me Jason, and that's when I'm in trouble! Yup, it still happens even now I'm the wrong side of mid 30's. I'm a gadget loving bass player. I live near Primrose Hill, London and play in a variety of bands as well as various sessions in and around London.

Ah, thanks for straightening that out Benjamin :)

I’ll check out Paradise Paintball when I get chance.

Cheers

J

Hey Tim :)

Well, I’ve not really heard much about Bigfoot since last summer.

But, if you’re after Android and QWERTY – did you spot that Motorola might be producing Nexus Two?

http://gadgetynews.com/nexus-two-on-its-way-hello-moto/

J

No problem Adam – it’s what I’m here for :)

J

Hey Peter.

I agree that it does look like the same front panel – but where you have the ‘Source Level’ on the Konnect Live you get the Compression/Reverb/Mix dial which has a Push on/off switch. Then you get the ‘Output Level’ on both but the Impact Twin has a switch for Stereo/Mono/Side.

To be honest I’ve only just discovered TC Electronics by searching for some decent portable bass gear.

I’m just amazed how easy the Impact Twin is to use and it’s making me learn how to do more which is never a bad thing.

By reading a little bit about the Konnect Live (http://www.tcelectronic.com/KonnektLive.asp) I can see why there seems to be a large degree of cross-over.

Chances are you could use either in either situation (home studio or live) but then there’s little bits that seem to make them more focused for their particular jobs.

As far as I know the Impact Twin has a rubbery surround over a metal chassis.

This is all a new area for me – most people laughed when they saw my cobbled together ’studio’ recording straight into a laptop running Acid……. oh well ;)

J

That’s kinda where I stand as well – and as a musician, personally I want as many people to hear my stuff as possible and come to the gigs.

I think that this is a veiled attempt to make more money for the labels as they were so slow in changing their business models to accept the digital music revolution.

The thing is; until musicians, labels, and the rest of the industry truly value the fan/consumer/customer they’ll continue to loose the fight.

J

Nice one Ben – thanks for the extra info.

I bet the Gibson Robots are getting worried ;0,

Any pricing details yet?

Thanks again

J

Yeah, that is a stumbling block Steve. I remember seeing a design concept for the iChat (I think) which was more wedge-shaped and still looked cool.

Another way would to have an edge mounted camera with a flip screen viewer – but that’s never gonna happen is it.

Do we need 5mp on an iPhone? I still would rather have focusing and a flash to be honest.

J

Hi Cat Lover.

I’m sorry that you think that I would encourage hurting any animal. It was supposed to be just a flippant remark (cats are generally too clever to allow someone to sneak up on them anyhow).

I am also a cat lover and my family has had 5 cats, one a rescue cat called Spikey and the other was a stray which we took in that gave us 9 kittens in return – that clever cat was called Tabatha.

I understand your concern that there are those people with, let’s say a common-sense deficiency, that might think “oooo firing snowballs at cats! Never thought of that. Sounds fun” but chances are these morons are the type to throw stones at ducks, shoot fogs and taunt dogs already.

I totally agree that no harm should ever come to animals – there will always be the idiotic minority that will try and make themselves feel powerful by hurting someone or something because they are lacking in other respects.

It’s not because of rock music, arcade games, religion, fashion or a Gadgety blog – some people have just gone wrong in the head.

Oooops – I seem to have vented a tad :o

Sorry if I had offended you with the cat remark.

Jay

Hey Jonas!

There’s some real pain-in-the-ass Zombies aint there?

The wandering witch really makes things interesting, the Jockeys are a real pain and, thankfully, you can shoot those undead riot police in the back to dispatch them :)

The bile bombs are such fun though – as is side-stepping the Chargers as they can’t stop once they get going until they hit something ;)

J

It’s my pleasure and what I am here for Bee :)

J

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……….. yeah.

Well spotted Juan – you win a weekend in May :p

J

Hey Suzanna!

I believe that refill packs cost around $10.00 :)

J

Nice :)

I can’t wait to see what people are able to control with this bit of gadgety magic!

Jay

Thanks for that Anna – I’m sure that my readers will appreciate other options :)

Jay

If I understand correctly you are saying that the image came from your Flickr account.

If that is the case then I apologise as I was unaware of this fact and assumed that the picture was from a press release as I grabbed the image from here: http://www.newlaunches.com/entry_images/0408/30/nova_01.php

J

Ooops – Perhaps I haven’t made this clear. That was an instruction for O2 customers in the UK (the network that supports the iPhone here).

There’s probably a similar solution for those on AT&T, etc :)

J

I’m pretty much the same – I’ve been using my iPhone and found it ok for the amount I read.

Thing is; 2 years ago it had the wow factor – now there’s things waiting on the side-lines that are gonna be more impressive and strokable in a lovely gadgety way.

J

[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The poster sent us ‘0 which is not a hashcash value.

Ooooooooooooooo…….. bobbing for Apple?

I’m sorry for your loss.

I’ve never tried Orange as generally been on O2 (even back to when it was CellNet) so tend to be with O2 more out of routine than any kind of loyalty.

As soon as there’s a whiff of tariff and allowances it will appear on this site ;)

Sorry M.

I attempt to utilise correct grammar but sometimes, in my eagerness to impart information with my readers, there can be some oversights.

In my defense, however, I’d like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to the fact that I use English and not ‘American English’ like some other UK based gadget and technology sites. ;)

As to my use of grammar; I shall try harder and spend a little more time proof-reading my articles.

I hope that my mistakes do not tarnish your experience of this site too much.

With sincerest regards

Jay

Hey Jim!

Wish I could help – yacht’s aren’t exactly a specialty of mine.

If you’re looking to buy a new mp3 player, large screen tv or have some questions regarding OLED then I may be able to help.

I hope you get the info you’re looking for elsewhere :)

J

Hey Mark!

Thanks letting me know!

I’ve now shared that news with everyone here:

http://gadgetynews.com/bf-qlocktwo-price-drop-newsflash/

Cheers :0)

J

Hey Jim!

Thanks for the heads-up!

Gotta admit that I’m a fan of OCC and will be checking that out.

Cheers.

J

Hey Angelo :)

Thanks for dropping by.

If you jump to http://gadgetynews.com/sony-ps3-slim-is-officially-official-new-play-station-released-and-ready-to-order/ you can see the actual official PS3 Slim – when the release date was originally outed the new Slim hadn’t actually been seen.

J

Yeah – you’d wear one though wouldn’tcha? ;)

J

Hey Geoff.

First, thanks for finding my blog.

If you read above I have actually had a representative from 118800 comment on my post and outline the official guidelines of the their service which may have saved you that phone call.

I pride myself in the fact that I try my best to offer an informative and straight-talking site (that I update between being a professional musician which is my actual job).

In the chance that you return to my site – I hope that this clarifies any misunderstanding and you are more than welcome to visit again.

All the best with kindest regards.

J
