1 Billion iPhone Apps Downloaded

by Jay G on April 24, 2009

iphone-app-store-hits-1bnThe countdown has ended for the 1,000,000,000th iPhone / iPod Touch application download.

It hit the magic number last night – this should get all those other soon-to-be-launched smartphone app services a little worried; or perhaps it has just set the challenge.

In a bit of a downer when the iPhone App Store ticker hit 1bn on Thursday it didn’t flash a video of a new iPhone or anything.

It’s quite a big deal to hit this number of downloads when you remember that the App Store opened just nine months ago.

It’s also a big deal for the iPhone user who gets a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, iPod touch, Time Capsule and MacBook Pro as the 1bn prize winner.

Lucky sod!

Was it you?
